Tom Byers is a licensed professional electrical engineer and a certified LEED accredited professional. He has over 30 years experience in the design and construction of electrical systems for high-rise commercial and residential projects, commercial tenant improvements and biomedical and data center facilities, including 15 KV substation design.
Tom has spent half his career as an engineering manager for design-build contractors. He is knowledgeable in design, construction and safety requirements. The design build environment requires designs based on performance criteria and value engineering to meet budget constraints. He has also worked in the plan and spec design-firm environment and as a facilities engineer. Tom also has deposition experience.
Tom is a member if the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), and the International Code Council (ICC).
At Ivey Engineering, he provides existing and new clients with electrical design services and forensic analysis of electrical systems, electrical accidents and electrical fires. He performs site inspections, testing, research, construction-cost analysis, report writing and testifies in depositions, hearings and trials.
